The Experience
When I photograph your family, I don't want to simply capture what you all looked like at that moment. I want to give you photographs where you will be able to remember how you felt at that moment. A client once told me "I can feel the love in that photograph" and that is truly the greatest compliment I could ever receive. That is all I strive for. For the feelings to seep out from the paper and into whomever is looking at it.
Booking & Planning
Once you have decided we are a good fit please head over to the CONTACT page. From there you can reach out via email, phone or Facebook. I'll send over a contract and an invoice for the session fee. Once I receive both back, your time and date will be reserved and we'll begin planning your session.
After you've booked a session we'll set up a pre-consultation. We can meet in person or talk over the phone. We'll talk wardrobe, location, timing, and what to expect. We'll also just talk. I want to get to know you, and everyone else participating. Do you and your husband like to show affection or are you a bit comical with each other? Should I sing a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse song or PJ Mask? (I can do both and many more, although not on key!) In order to capture the real you, your family authentically, I need to know a little bit about you. I also like talking beforehand simply because when it is time for your session it will be more like meeting up with a friend.
During our phone call or meet up, you'll also let me know if there are any particular details I need to capture or moments you want to highlight. I don't use a lot of props as I prefer to capture life in a more natural way. But I do absolutely love when families bring items that are special to them. I've had families bring wooden rocking horses that have been passed down, beloved children's books, and blankets that were handmade by someone special. I've also had families bring items that were just plain fun. Bubbles, hoola hoops, a picnic, the sky is truly the limit. These items are what make you, you. And will make your photographs something truly unique and priceless.
The Session
When we meet up for your session, my hope is the stress will melt away. I won't be asking you to stand still or put your hand in a certain spot. I won't be asking your little one to say cheese. Instead we might play games...
"Can you run faster than your brother? I bet you can!"
you'll kiss and snuggle each other...
"Hold your wife close and whisper in her ear the first thought you had when you saw her coming down the aisle."
or go on an adventure...
"What's around that bend? Walk slowly and quietly so you don't scare any butterflies that might be there."
After Your Session
After your session, my work has just begun. I go through each of your photos, one by one and take out any duplicates, the ones with eye blinks and those that may have come out blurry or unflattering. Then each photo is hand edited to bring out the very best. Enhancing it to highlight your family and your moments.
After each image in your gallery has been meticously selected and edited, it will be put into your private online gallery. A link to your gallery will be emailed to you within two weeks of your session. After clicking on your link you will be able to view your images, select your favorite (or all if you can't choose), decide on a print and/or digital collection, or order items a la carte.
